Colombia is increasingly shedding its old reputation as a place filled with murder and mayhem. While the country is no Shangri La, it has come a long way from the heady days of the eighties and nineties. Yet the more some things change, the more others stay the same. Prostitution remains legal in some forms in Colombia. And it is widespread in many forms in Medellin.
The mountain city of Medellin is one of the most well known and popular places in Colombia. Women from the city are commonly said to be some of the most beautiful on earth. Combine that with a large at least semi-legal sex industry and you end up with all sorts of sex work. Here’s a summary of prostitution in Medellin today.
Massage parlors in Medellin
Medellin is certainly not known for its massage parlors. Nor do massage parlors line the streets of Medellin the way they proliferate in cities like Bangkok. But Medellin does actually have a few erotic massage parlors including the famous Lutron that rival others around the world in terms of service and price.
Jade Palace Spa is a large erotic massage parlor in the popular Poblado part of town. Located just off the main street, the place is rather discreet with just a small sign next to the buzzer. After customers are let into the building, they find a clean and airy space run by a cheerful woman. The attractive gals on staff do nude full body massages on real massage tables followed by oral and sex for as little as 80,000 Pesos ($23 USD).
Brothels
Apartment based brothels or casas are perhaps the most common form of sex shop in Medellin. They can be found all over the city, though some are a lot more obvious than others. In most cases the brothels don’t have any signs or anything else outside to indicate what they are. Yet plenty of people find them nonetheless.
Masajes Aifee on Calle 57 is a good example of this sort of shop. It is open every day and always has a few women on staff. The action takes place in the private rooms inside. Thirty minute sessions cost just 37,000 Pesos ($11 USD).
Nearby sits New Life, which operates on a similar model. This place is larger and more popular with plenty of guys going in and out all the time. They have upwards of thirty women working, and many are quite attractive. Fifteen minutes of sex costs 40,000 Pesos ($12 USD). Three hours costs 200,000 ($58 USD).
The above are just two of the many brothels in Medellin. On last count I discovered more than two dozen similar places in the city. And from what I am told by some knowledgeable parties, there are many more than that around.
Strip clubs with sex
Strip clubs are also quite common in Medellin. What sets most of these places apart from the no touch strip clubs of the United States and other countries is that the dancers typically offer sex to customers for the right price. Sometimes the prices is even quite low.
At Playmates Show Bar drinks go for 4000 Pesos, nude dancers ask for 1000 Peso tips, and most of the gals will have sex with a guy for 80,000 Pesos ($23 USD). These low prices help explain why the place is so popular. Most nights it’s filled with local guys.
Barra Ejecutiva on Calle 55 is slightly more up market. The bar is large with a big stage in the middle. The women only occasionally dance on stage. But they do sit with customers quite often. They also leave with guys pretty regularly. Since the typical price of a barfine and tip for sex is 100,000 Pesos all together, it isn’t very surprising how often they can be seen heading off in search of a private place.
Fase II is the biggest and many would say the best of all the strip clubs in Medellin. Lots of women work the club including a few gals who look good enough to be models. The price for sex at Fase II is a bit higher at 190,000 Pesos ($55 USD). But it also includes use of a private room in the cabanas next door.
Prepagados
Finally there are the prepagados. The term literally translates to “prepaid”. But it refers to women who formally or informally escort and have sex with guys for money. Prepagados are a big thing in Medellin. And these days they even rival the gals working out of the official and established spots.
Pregados can be found throughout Medellin but most find their customers over the internet. They use everything from social media like Facebook and Instagram to dating apps like Tinder to find guys. And guys search the same places to find them. Some prepagados don’t even bring up the fact that they are looking for money until later on, or never. At times they just expect guys to know the game.
There are some organized websites with prepagados too. Some even screen profiles and pictures to make sure they are legitimate. Of course there are also sites that use the term prepagados but are simply traditional escort agencies. The term has a fairly wide application for sex workers.
Prices charged by pregados can vary depending on any number of factors. Official agency escorts might want a lot. Independent semi-professionals may want a little, especially for extended dating. But nothing is set in stone. It’s not uncommon for a guy in the know to pay a nineteen year old 100,000 Pesos or less for a blowjob and sex. Though prices can fluctuate heavily in either direction. Some ladies ask for 200,000 Pesos or more. And others work things like a sugar daddy relationship over the long term.
Serious question should mongers get on PREP? I’ve heard mixed views on this.
Hi Jules. Some people take PREP. Other people don’t. I don’t give advice. This website is just for entertainment. Medical professionals are the best source of medical information. Cheers.
I know a working gal in Thailand who takes it, but then she’s a high risk gal who specializes in uncovered action, all holes, group action, etc. She also gets tested every 90 days. The irony is that she does all of that but doesn’t “believe” in birth control.
Myself, I just make sure to cover up for any action except the occasional lass who will give uncovered oral. I’m weak when it comes to that, although a covered BJis better than no BJ at all.
I have no idea what side effects there might be from PREP. As Rockit sez, check with a reputable GP.
Re: preparados. In a different part of the Americas, I learned that means some kind of bank transfer to the girl before she will meet. A few have tried to get me to sign up for access to their videos with a credit card “for verification”, which I assume is a scam to skim my card and I’ve avoided.
A massage and extras gal who serviced me in an auto hotel asked for a 10% advance by transfer just to protect her in case I flaked. As I learned after we met, she has too often agreed to meet punters and found herself out the time and taxi fare when the dude gets cold feet.
I’m assuming that Medellin prepagados also expect something upfront?
You can find women asking to be prepaid in Korea and Indonesia too. Sometimes they are legit. Many times they are not. Many prepagados in Medellin won’t even bring up the subject of money until a date is underway. Though I guess some may request advance payment. That would seem fishy to me. Cheers.
Then I guess it means “show me the money” when she arrives rather than settling the bill after the action is complete.
I’ve done that, but in Asia. I always let them know that a nice little tip might follow if performance on my big tip warrants it.
It could be something like that. Without checking into the exact situation it would be difficult for me to know. I can say I have never sent money to any woman in advance in Colombia. Yet I had no trouble meeting gals there. Cheers.
I was just there last month and been over a dozen times. No, I have never had to pay a deposit or go along with any such request. They may ask you for taxi money if you are meeting them in front of the building, that is more customary in my opinion.
Thanks for the report Pep. Your experience matches what I have seen too. Cheers.
Yeah, learned since that preparado just means have the cash ready when she shows up, not after the fact.
Thanks for the report. I am always glad to see my reporting confirmed for its accuracy. Cheers!
When I was there in 1995, it was pretty dangerous to walk around after 7 pm. I took a taxi to a strip club where the guards were frisking everyone to see nobody carried weapons. There was some sort of a weekly lottery in the bar and the winner got a free lay with one of the girls. I didn’t feel too safe at this particular club but I found a normal bar with vallenato dance music. People were so friendly that I found some local friends and also several gf almost everywhere. I didn’t spend much money on sex at that time. I was a young man then but now it is a different story. LOL It was a paradise for me!!! Cheers!!
Thanks for the report Deca. Indeed times have changed. Medellin is much safer than it once was. But it is still no walk in the park. You can find plenty of friendly people. But there are also some lurking around with bad intentions. In any event I have never had a problem. Cheers.
Thanks for the great overview. As someone that does neither speak Spanish nor Portuguese I was able to have a great time (thanks to my smartphone) in Sao Paulo. Do you think it would be too risky for someone that has never been to Colombia to go on a solo mongering trip?
Also, any chance there will be a similar overview report for Brazil?
Cheers!
Thanks for the comment Marcus. I don’t make recommendations and this website is only meant to entertain. People certainly do visit Colombia. Others probably avoid it due to safety concerns. I personally don’t think it’s more dangerous than Brazil. Or at least it wasn’t at the time of writing. I am not there now. If I do visit Brazil for research I will report my findings here. Cheers.
Hey rockit, great write up! I go to medellin every few months and have been to most neighborhoods in the city. I can recommend la isla as the top strip club and gusto night club near parque lleras as a top bar full of working gurls. They are slightly more expensive than there competitors because they’re both number #1 in there category. Please let me know if you’ve been and your thoughts
Thanks for the report Michel. Please tell us more about La Isla and Gusto. Cheers!
Hi Rockit,
This is a fantastic overview. I’m wondering if there are any agencies or establishments where the language barrier is not an issue. I’m assuming there are places that specifically cater to tourists since the majority of the customer base are English speakers.
Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. As with most countries the majority of customers are actually locals. Additionally, few people in Colombia or most of Latin America seem very interested in catering to English speakers. The few exceptions may be tourist heavy places like Tijuana, Sosua and Boca Chica. There was a guy doing a sort of tour service in Colombia years ago. He charged his customers about 10 times the normal local rate. I am not sure if he is still in business. Cheers.
I’ve been in Medellin for the past 8 months, and been to nearly every place in every area. Most videos, and comments are made from people who have no clue wtf they’re talking about. Learn from my mistakes. To have the best time in Medellin:
-DONT BE AFRAID OF EL CENTRO
it’s bustling, cheap, close to everything with tons of hot working and square girls everywhere! Its what Manhattan was probably like in the 50’s – 60’s.
-SKIP PARQUE LLERAS (AND POBLADO)
Poblado, and PARQUE LLERAS are not safe! Contrary to what the bullshit videos on YouTube tell you. Be logical. What was the bank robber’s reason for robbing banks? You’d be safer wearing a sign saying “GRINGO WITH MONEY” That, along with it being way overpriced are reasons to skip Poblado entirely.
-HAVE WIFI CALLING & A PORTABLE HOTSPOT
Your cellphone probably won’t work in Colombia, and if it does roaming charges will be costly. The best way around this is to buy a portable hotspot on Amazon for $50 – $100, and make sure you have a phone WITH WIFI CALLING (not a BS wifi calling app). Purchase & insert the SIM card for your hotspot, activate AIRPLANE ✈️ mode & wifi calling on the phone. You can now make and receive calls and texts like you were still in the states.
-BE SMART ABOUT BANKS (ATM’s ETC)
This is by far the biggest headache expats, and visitors will have in Medellin. Be advised that many American ATM/ BANK cards WILL NOT WORK AT ALL ANYWHERE IN COLOMBIA! Many establishments don’t take cards (including fruit stands, cafes, taxis, and some food delivery svcs). You will always need at least 20k pesos on hand just in case. The cards that will always work are from:
1. Charles Schwab
2. Navy Federal (ONLY Debit ATM from SAVINGS)
3. Coinbase
4. Robinhood
5. CashApp
6. PayPal
7. DCU
Currently only these cards are guaranteed to work anywhere in Colombia (ATM, HOTELS, RESTAURANTS). Other cards are hit or miss. Meaning they’ll work as a debit but not at an ATM machine, and vice versa. AVOID ALL BANK OF COLOMBIA ATM machines unless you’re making withdrawals of $100 (Abt 400,000 pesos) or more. Bank of Colombia ATM’s charge a flat fee of 21,500 pesos (Abt $5) per transaction, plus a commission for the currency conversion, and your bank may charge you too.
-LEARN SPANISH
This is the only thing YouTube got right. People in Colombia give zero f**ks about speaking English. It sounds crazy, but they can barely say hello. It’s a percent Latin country, and Google translate should ONLY be an occasional guide when you forget a word, or two
-GO SOMEPLACE ELSE
Colombia is not dangerous to me because I grew up in NYC in the 80’s and 90’s. I’ve traveled to 5 different continents, and also been to many places in the 3rd world. As much as I absolutely love Colombia, I would NOT suggest this as a first stop for the adventurous man or woman from a “first world” country. That would be like giving a tall glass of 151 to a person that’s never had a drink. You absolutely HAVE to visit Colombia, however to avoid sensory overload, I would suggest doing it only after going somewhere like Puerto Rico, Mexico, or Jamaica first. Trust me, follow this guide, and you will have the best adventure imaginable.
Thanks for the very detailed comment. Cheers!
Medellin WHERE TO GO (& NOT TO)!
1. GUSTO
Amazing girls. By amazing I mean amazingly fake and overpriced. The area is full of tourists, paying rip-off tourist prices. Be very careful if you venture just outside to Parque lleras. Police are very 3world sketchy (looking for bribes), many of the working girls aren’t even girls.
*Girls 8 of 10 / Location 5 of 10 / Price 2 of 10 /
—-NO GO—-
2. LA ISLA
LA ISLA is a great place with REALLY nice women. Some of the hottest girls in Medellin. This place is popular with locals and tourists, a little far from Poblado and Laureles but worth the 20 mins drive.
*Girls 9 of 10/ Location 3 of 10 / Price 5 of 10 /
++++GO++++
3.BARRA EJECTIVA
Welcome to El Centro! This neighborhood is home of the 50k peso 1/2 hr. You’ve got a mixed bag as far as the girls are concerned, however it’s a win because 50k pesos currently is just over $10. This is one of best deals I’ve seen considering the girls. No tens, but a bunch of 7’s and a couple 8’s. No fancy clockwatchers here guys. Great value.
*Girls 7 of 10/ Location 7 of 10 / Price 8 of 10
++++GO++++
4.LUNA LUNERA
It’s open 24hrs! I wouldnt suggest rolling in too late though. The neighborhood isnt too far from Poblado and Laureles, buts it still a little rough. Try to be in and out by midnight. The girls here are 7’s, 8’s, and a couple 9’s. Quality stable for sure. A little on the pricey side. But still a great value.
*Girls 8 of 10/ Location 6 of 10/ Price 6 of 10
++++GO++++
5. NEW LIFE
Another El Centro gem. 55k pesos gets you 30 mins. Really nice stable. Not perfect, but very nice. Locals and tourists will be here together as well. Get in an out early, they close at 7. Great breakfast treat, or lunch stress relief.
*Girls 7 of 10/ Location 7 of 10/ Price 7 of 10
Thanks for the report. Cheers!
Can someone please tell me what “Cubana” means in the context of a type of happy ending for a massage? I searched, but wasn’t able to find the answer. I’ve seen it referenced by different massage providers in South America…
I don’t know of any specific Cuban massage. It may simply be a reference to female Cuban masseuses who would be called Cubanas in Spanish. Cheers.
No, I don’t think so. It seems to be some kind of service like a type of happy ending, not a type of massage. Here is an example of the context in which I have seen it in Colombia and Argentina:
Especialidad: Masaje shiatshu, Masaje con piedras calientes, Masaje en camilla, Masaje anti-estrés, Masaje relajante….
Terminaciones: Cubana (principio y final), Completo, Permite caricias, Relax oral (al final), Relax manual (principio y final), Relax manual (al final)
Translation:
Speciality: Shiatshu massage, Hot stone massage, Stretcher massage, Anti-stress massage, Relaxing massage….
Terminations: Cubana (beginning and end), Complete, Allows caresses, Oral Relax (at the end), Manual Relax (beginning and end), Manual Relax (at the end)
(Relax = handjob)
That could be true. Someone online seems to think it indicates a handjob with the idea being that working a stiff cock is somehow similar to rolling a Cuban cigar. I have only found a single reference to this however. And this is the first time I have heard the phrase otherwise. Perhaps someone else can chime in with some information. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Cheers.
OPEN NOW? I LIKE ROUGH SEX
Thanks for the comment.
This is my first time in medellin and I am from US
I liked a girl on passion prepagos and I am planning to meet her to have sex for some money.
So, I am worried isn’t it illegal as buying and selling sex. What are the chances I will get caught by law.
I am not a lawyer and I don’t give advice. This website is solely for entertainment. Cheers.
Are these rates still nearly as accurate? because im thinking about visiting one of these days
As far as I know they are still accurate. Though I make no guarantees and this website is only meant for entertainment. Cheers.
