Review: Shibuya Galaxy in Tokyo, Japan

Shibuya Galaxy is a very interesting peep show in Tokyo. This place utilizes the one-way “magic mirror” concept to allow horny guys to peep in on young women. Although most of the signage outside is in Japanese this shop warmly welcomes foreigners. This is indicated by the “English OK” sign hung on the door.

I have reported on two Japanese peep shows in the past: New Hot Point and Madonna. The now-shuttered New Hot Point and Madonna followed the same nozokibeya model. In that kind of business customers watch two full-boded babes dance fully nude from private booths. Guys have the choice of wanking themselves off or paying for extra services like handjobs or covered blowjobs from one of the dancers.

As a kengaku club, Shibuyua Galaxy is different. The women here are more like university students with less developed bodies. And while customers still in private booths here they cannot be touched by any of the women inside on the “stage”.

Still there are lots of options for customers at Shibuya Galaxy. The women put on private shows that can be even more erotic and hardcore than what is seen at Madonna. Things are also more customizable and long lasting.

Shibuya Galaxy peep show

Shibuya Galaxy isn’t the easiest place in the world to find. But it’s not exactly hidden either. Located just steps away from the previously reviewed Tokyo Amateur Escorts, Shibuya Galaxy is about a 5 minute walk from Shibuya Station.

While Shibuya Galaxy is just minutes from the world famous Shibuya Scramble and Hachiko statue, it is not the kind of place you would stumble across accidentally. The shop is tucked at the end of an alley at the top of a small hill.

So the place’s location does offer at least a modicum of discretion and privacy. Of course, Shibuya is a busy place. There are people coming and going down the street at all times of the day and night. There is also a mainstream shop next door with customers sometimes sitting outside. The signage on Shibuya Galaxy spells out exactly what is going on in the store, complete with pictures. It’s very obviously an adult venue.

That said, no one really cares what you get up to in Tokyo. Especially in Shibuya. After all, there is a well known strip theater just down the street. And a love hotel in the other direction. There is no shortage of hentai people in the city. So customers to Shibuya Galaxy are not all that out of the norm.

Entering Shibuya Galaxy

When enter Shibuya Galaxy you immediately find a place to leave your shoes. Behind that is a rack with slippers that you can wear inside. Next you head to the desk just inside the door. There a Japanese woman shows you some cards that spell out the rules in English. Basically this is a no-touch peep show. You pay for time in a booth. You cannot talk to the women inside. Nor can you bring in any kind of camera or other devices.

Prices vary at different times. For example a 40 minute session during the week is 5000 Yen ($34 USD). But the same session on the weekend is 5500 Yen ($38 USD). This entitles you to the use of a normal booth. A larger VIP booth is available for more money. And it is worth it! The standard booths are so small that the average Western man might have trouble fitting inside.

There is a 1000 Yen ($7 USD) membership fee for first time visitors. Though that is waved with certain sessions. For example, if you take the 6500 Yen ($45 USD) 60 minute weekday session you do not need to pay a membership fee.

A 40 minute session comes with one 10-minute “nomination”. This allows you to call over one of the women inside for a 10 minute long private show. The 60 minute session comes with 2 nominations. You can also purchase additional nominations and even a “full rotation” that gets you time with each of the ladies on staff.

You can also pay for various cosplay options. Things like “no bra” options abound. It’s all in English with illustrations to make things clear. It’s also all optional. The only necessary fee is the admission cost.

While the system here may seem complicated at first, this is actually one of the easiest shops to navigate in Tokyo. They spell out everything clearly in English on their cards and signage. They’re also patient and kind.

The front desk staff even hands you an electronic menu pad with pretty much everything in English. Shibuya Galaxy is also incredibly convenient. They accept all sorts of payments from cash and credit to the ever present Suica card. So you can pay for your peep show with the same card you use to ride the train and shop at Lawson.

How it works

Once you accept the rules and select a session length you are given a paper receipt and an electronic pad device. Next you walk to the left where a friendly Japanese guy asks you to remove everything from your pockets. You place your belongings in a locker and he hands you the key. Then he asks you to step up on a small stool so he can run a metal detector over your body. This is to check for any sort of recording devices.

Next you’re showed to one of the private booths. These things are small! They each contain a legless chair, some tissues, small trash bags, and a request form. You can write special requests on the form and push it up to the mirror during private shows. Everything on the paper is in Japanese. Although it includes useful requests like “make more eye contact” or “make less eye contact” you’re not required to use it. If you don’t, the gal just does as she feels.

Once you get seated you see a group of ladies sitting in legless chairs on the floor in front of you. Since you’re behind a magic mirror, the women cannot see you. Yet. Guys in the other booths cannot see you either. The shop claims to have 100 women on staff. Though on a weekday afternoon there may be four or five on the floor.

The ladies at Shibuya Galaxy range in age from 18 to maybe their mid-20’s. The shop aims to hire women who just turned 18. And they seem pretty success at that. The women here are average to quite attractive in looks. All have nice slim bodies and smooth legs. There’s some variation too. The women mostly just look at their phones while on the main floor. Since they’re wearing pleated skirts you can often get a good upskirt view. You’re permitted to wank off if you’d like. You just can’t make any noise. With a guy just on the other side of your curtain, you probably wouldn’t want to anyway. At least until you call one over to your area.

Strip show services

The pad you are given is like a menu system in English. Using the pad you can select ladies for nominations by following the instructions. Other options include purchasing your favorite lady’s panty or bra to take home. You can also do things like give tips, though that is certainly not necessary.

When you make a nomination, your lady of choice comes over to your booth. She then pulls a sheer white curtain around to block off the rest of the floor from view. Second, the curtain changes the light refraction which does seem to let the lady see into your booth at least somewhat.

Just put your mess into the provided bag, pull up your pants, head back into the small room with the lockers, and throw your bag into the trash can.

After you hand over your key you can retrieve your belongings. You then hand your receipt slip and pad back to the lady at the front desk. She will see if you owe anything extra and settle up your bill. Again, everyone is really polite. It actually seems like they want you to be there which is not always the case in Tokyo’s sex shops.

Shibuya Galaxy attracts a wide array of customers. They have foreign tourists who just want to try the place out right alongside Japanese regulars who even bring gifts for their favorite performers. So I guess you could say there is “something for everyone”.

In reality this is a fetish style shop that might not appeal to some men. Then again this is Japan where the weird and wacky is part of the game. In a country with thousands of different adult entertainment venues, it can really help to stand out.

Shibuya Galaxy definitely does that. This is one of the more unique “only in Japan” sort of places. Add to the fact that it’s all safe and legal and you can understand the attraction. Or just think about the 19 year babe with her legs spread inside.
