Spanky’s is one of the many go go bars located inside of Nana Entertainment Plaza (NEP) in Bangkok. With multiple floors jammed packed with agogos it takes a lot for a bar in the NEP to stand out. Spanky’s does exactly that with its unique theme.
Of course a theme can only go so far unless a place goes all the way with it. So maid cafes have become a sort of genre of their own in Japan. But places like the aircraft themed DC-10 bar in Bangkok never really made major waves. To its credit Spanky’s uses the theme more to pack seats than anything else. Once the people are inside they can enjoy what is actually a pretty good agogo.
Spanky’s in Nana Plaza
Regular readers may remember that I mentioned Spanky’s in both my 2018 and 2019 overviews of the go go bar scene in Bangkok. It would rather absurd to do a roundup of the city’s agogos without talking about the place. It’s that popular and notable. Unfortunately the pandemic made it virtually impossible to do the Bangkok go go bar summary I had planned for 2020. But at least this situation has given me the opportunity to examine some of these places in like Spanky’s more depth.
As the name would suggest Spanky’s is all about smacking backsides. Well it’s not all about that. But that is definitely the overall theme. If the logo of a red hand print on a derriere didn’t give it away the women standing out front hitting people who walk past across their posteriors would. Since they do the hitting with harmless yet noisy foam rods this more about bringing attention to the place than anything else. But you can tell that the ladies do have fun whacking butts even when it doesn’t put them in the seats.
Inside Spanky’s is a regular go go bar with a sort of stagered seating arrangement. There is the typical stage with metal poles and most of the seats are oriented around that. Though there is also a stand up shower with glass walls in the back where women wash off in the nude. It reminds me of a similar setup in New York’s Sin City years ago. Only the dancers at Spanky’s are more attractive and fully nude.
Staff, service and summary
Since the shower show at Spanky’s is so sensual and alluring that only makes the absence of good seating more noticeable. There are just a few chairs that give good views of the shower. Yet those same chairs give almost no clear view of the stage. That is regrettable.
Still the presence of so many attractive women more than makes up for the shitty seating arrangement. Every Thai agogo more or less has a good amount of women working these days. But the ratio of good looking ladies to the others isn’t as high as it used to be. It’s not for nothing that the old Electric Blue used to advertise “lots of sexy ladies, and a few ugly ones too” before it went the way of the dodo bird.
At Spanky’s there are plenty of fit and good looking Thai babes in their twenties to ogle. They’re all quite friendly and fun. So in between hitting people over the head with their foam paddles they are more than happy to sit down over lady drinks. There is also a barfine of course. Though the vibe in the place is more towards fun in the bar. Gals do go out of the place with guys who are willing to shell out a couple thousand Baht. But they much prefer hitting one of the short time rooms right in Nana Plaza than doing an overnight somewhere else in the city.
Spanky’s stands out from the rest of the go go bars for a couple of reasons. The most obvious is the spanking theme. But as stated above that only goes so far. It is the fun vibe and the friendliness of the abundant attractive women inside the bar that makes up the real staying power and popularity of this place. They obviously know how to run a go go bar. It’s not the best in the world by any means. But it can be a lot of fun. With that in mind I give Spanky’s three stars.

Always had a good time in Spankys. They did continue with shows (sometimes featuring tomboys) when other Bars scaled back (at least in 2018-2019). This floor is/was my favourite in Nana Plaza. Sexy Night is another great Bar with decent music and a little bit older but still attractive girls. DC 10 used to have girls but I think its now all ladyboys? During a period they had both, which was a bit confusing.
Thanks for the comment. DC10 started as an airplane themed go go bar. Then it became a ladyboy bar. Later it had a mix of ladyboys and women. Later still I think it went back to being women only. Sexy Night may also have turned into a ladyboy bar for a moment. If not, then it was a bar just next door. Mercury was a ladyboy bar for sure. I don’t know what things will look like if Nana Plaza gets back on its feet in the future. Cheers.
I once barfined 2 girls from Spankys Pattaya, a good place as well. Less of a show bar, more of a regular a go go if I remember correctly?
I think the Lady Boy venue replaced Spankys in 2014 or 2015? A tricky location on Soi Diamond.
I sort of remember a Spanky’s in Pattaya. But I can’t be sure. I wonder if it is the place where Katoeys R Us is now located.
Katoeys are us replaced them in nov 2015. Very good memories from Spankys Pattaya! Dont know if it was the same owner as in Bangkok.
Windmill is doing fine in the Soi, but many other failed Go gos on that stretch of Soi Diamond.
Windmill always seemed to be pretty full. And why not? It was full of naked women! Cheers.

Did you ever visit Smile a rock on Soi 15? Very tiny Go go with perhaps 5 mature girls who gave the best BJ I experienced in SEA. Few other customers so privacy was never an issue.
They had a very good looking young Mamasan who always spiked the bill. I just laughed and we agreed on something in between, I wanted to return and didnt want anybody to lose face.

The same owner as Naughty girl on Walking street. The good looking Mamasan in Smile a rock could have been a ladyboy, hard to tell and I still misjudge.. Yea, great BJ inside Smile a rock (2015 and jan 2016). My experience is that when one lady start giving head, others join in – they want a tip as well, or they simply get horny, it happens.
Only f***ed in 1 Go go bar (in Soi Cowboy, bareback with two tall girls from Chang Rai). But experienced oral sex inside 20-25 different Go go bars.
Oral previews were a norm in a lot of bar. Full oral service was more rare though still possible. The “naughty boy corner” at Afterskool on Soi Cowboy was infamous for it. In recent years a full ride was rarer still. Though it did still happen occasionally in bars like Babydolls. Cheers.
BJ bars with cubicles upstairs are a bit to clinical for me, it feels like a dentist appointment. No surprise I liked Star of Light and a couple of the Bars on the south side of Soi 6. But the best is a BJ with several girls in a go go Bar, and preferably not just “a preview BJ”, and usually the girls actually “finish the job”.
Your assessment is most likely correct. It happend more often a few years back. Pattaya was wild. I remember a Karoke Bar in soi 3. It had a big garden, and outside under a tree the girls performed. And BJ:s were not uncommon in Beerbars, there was a smal “round” bar near the beach end of soi 7 or soi 8 and if the girl in the Bar dident have any other customers, one could jump into the Bar and she gave a BJ.
Spanky used to be my favorite place in Nana with some hot chicks in around 2010!!! I have some fond memories and used to stay only a block from it. Though it was really crowded with almost everyone from everywhere and everthing was a bit overpriced but this is kind of a place to party with your fraternity brothers!! I stopped going there at one point and don’t know why!!

I think shows will be even more important to attract customers . Yes fun memories from Spankys. Usually the girls like the shows as well, and sometimes the acction is not pre-planed. Suzie Wong in Cowboy and Whats up Pattaya had the best acts during the golden years. But I remember a night in Anglewitch Pattaya just before they closed down and the show was excellent, the girls were bored and wanted to do something elaborate dispite few customers.
Whats up. They had a soft lesbian show, not like Suzie Wongs hard core stuff. But Whats up also had a circus-like gymnastic show in the ceiling with many hiso Bangkok guests in the crowd. It was possible to Barfine the professional gymnasts, and the servicegirls and the 100+ dancers. Expensive like hell, but really good.
