Review: Palace in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand

Palace is one of the two soapy massage parlors in Ubon Ratchathani. It employs a staff of Thai women who offer nude bathing and full service. In the past Palace may have been the most popular or prominent soapland in the city. These days it is obvious that the glory days are long gone.

At one time there were three soapy massage parlors in Ubon. Today there are two, which is still a lot for a city of the size. The previously reviewed Atami soapy massage is the newest and nicest. The old Long Beach soapy massage parlor closed a while ago.

Palace soapy massage in Ubon

Palace massage is in a rather large building on Phalochai Road. It is easy to spot at night with red lights out front. Though otherwise it is actually rather discreet despite the large sign out front that reads “PALACE” in Thai.

The building is rather worse for wear. But it is not as bad as some soapy massage parlors in Thailand where unchecked water damage seems to have destroyed structural integrity of entire buildings. Inside the doors there is a large lobby with some sexy posters on the walls. But the truth is that most of the room goes unused.

There are many seats around for customers, but those too don’t seem to get much use. The glass partition and fish bowl is off to the left. But the women on staff don’t use that either. Instead the three or four gals working sit on some chairs in front of the glass. Or they wait outside until they see a customer.

There are two Thai guys who work the lobby at Palace. They are very welcoming to customers and at least one can even speak English. Their friendly demeanor might seem out of place in Bangkok or even Pattaya these days. But in Isaan, most people are still quite warm and welcoming, even of farang who are obviously seeking for adult entertainment.

Prices, services, summary

As with most soapy massage parlors, there are different “classes” of ladies at Palace. Some ladies charge 1300 Baht ($43 USD) for service. The others charge 1500 ($50 USD). There doesn’t seem to be any noticeable difference between them. They’re all twenty to thirty year old ladies of more or less average looks. It’s possible that some ladies just want more than others.

The rooms at Palace are large. Each has a big bath tub, a king size bed, and a television mounted on the wall. The quarters are a bit ragged, but again there are much worse places around. Some things are worse than others of course. Like the huge air conditioning unit in one of the rooms that doesn’t turn off. But the bath tubs have a full supply of hot water, which is not always found even in some expensive Thai soapies. The mirrors are a nice touch too.

The women who work at Palace are quite eager and skilled at their work. They do the usual bathing ritual and deliver full service in multiple positions over on the bed. But they can also throw in things that are somewhat surprising considering the place and the price. For instance they often wash quite thoroughly and start with bareback oral right in the water. Over on the dry part of the room at least one of the ladies can do deepthroat and isn’t shy about showing off her abilities at all. There’s no sign of clock watching or mechanical service, at least as far as I can tell.

Although the surroundings have seen better days and the staff is limited, Palace still delivers. They provide the services they promise for the prices they quote. And they are friendly and welcoming to anyone who steps inside. Two-and-a-half stars.
