Review: The Ball Gentleman's Club in Knoxville, TN USA

The Ball is a strip club in the US city of Knoxville. There are a good number of clubs in the area. But they all have characters of their own. People in the area can choose between a down-home local style strip club, a middle of the road place, and The Ball. The Ball is probably the biggest and brightest of the bunch. But that doesn’t automatically make it the best.

Perhaps I am old fashioned. But the name of this club makes me think it is a gay club of some sort. Their slogan “experience the ball” doesn’t exactly help in this regard. Not that this would matter. After all I have written about boy bars in Pattaya and even interviewed a guy who works in such an establishment.

Maybe I am overthinking it. After years of working around places like The Spot Bar I might just have an over awareness. In any event no one seems to care. The Ball gets plenty of customers and I can only assume the majority of them are heterosexual by the way they watched the women dance.

Inside The Ball

Sadly this is another American strip club that has quite heavy security. Entering the club is almost like getting on board an air craft. Customers must show an ID that is then scanned by a machine. After that they must walk through a metal detector. I would say I miss the old days when this wasn’t required. But it still isn’t required now at the majority of places around the world. The owners are of course free to do whatever they want here. Yet I am not required to like it.

The cover charge at The Ball is $12 US. It is on par with pricing at most other places of this sort. But I can’t help but wonder how much of that goes to sustaining the rigorous security regimen. I was tempted to ask the big bouncer how much he made when I visited. I decided against it. The scowl on his face showed me that he didn’t seem like the sort for friendly small talk.

The same goes for the bar tender. Though she seemed even less friendly. Of course she works in a bar next door. Local laws say a strip club with fully nude dancers can’t sell alcohol. To get around that customers go to a bar one shop over. Then they bring their drink back inside of the strip club. It renders the whole thing moot. Alright. I don’t write the laws. I just follow them. Oddly the bar would only give me change in the form of $2 bills. The ATM also apparently dispenses these. I guess that’s one way to get more money out of people!

Strippers, services, prices and summary

There are a handful of women working The Ball. The number is about normal for a club in a city of this size. Yet it doesn’t necessarily contrast well with the size of the club itself. The gals all seem to be in their twenties or perhaps very early thirties. Most of the dancers are white. A couple are black. They all seem to have at least some tattoos. Some are covered in ink while others just have a little design on their ankles or arms.

While there are no elderly women working here there are a few large gals. I guess this is the way of the world these days. Or at least the way of this part of the world. From what I see a certain segment of men are into bigger women too. Different strokes for different folks as they say. I surely understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Still, I can only write from my own perspective. I didn’t find the women at The Ball all that attractive.

The ladies do put in work though. They take turns on the stage and they give it a real go. They are also a friendly bunch who are more than willing to approach customers and chat. Part of this is to get guys to go for more expensive dances. That’s the same anywhere. But these women seemed a lot more down to earth than the kinds of hardcore hustlers you find at a place like Larry Flynt’s in Las Vegas.

Private dances are available on couches behind a curtain for $20. This is more than most clubs charge. The pricing for the VIP room is more on par with pricing in these sorts of places at about $10 a minute. The women are fully nude in both situations. So it allows for an up close look and a little more. But note that I do say “a little”.

There can be a bit of contact with the dancers during both during dances and visits to the VIP room. But it only goes one way. In other words the dancers are free to grind on the customers or even let their hands wander. But customers have to keep their hands to themselves. This isn’t necessarily out of the norm for an American strip club. But it is worth noting since there are also clubs around where two way mutual contact is a regular coinsurance.

The Ball may try to be a little more than it is. The place is certainly large and set up nicely. But everything comes down to the dancers and services. With a bevy of bigger women working the bar this place might scratch a certain itch. In my case it couldn’t distract from the over the top security. That may very well be called for due to past experiences here. I am not sure. But I am sure that I wouldn’t submit myself to that procedure again just to watch a couple of average women dance naked. Especially when I can watch thousands of amazingly attractive women on adult cam sites from the comfort of my own bed. I give The Ball a half-a-star.
