The Cricket Lounge is a local strip club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There seem to be quite a lot of strip clubs in this part of the world. I have now visited several and can report on my findings. As far as adult entertainment and the overall environment goes this area is definitely no Amsterdam or Pattaya Fun Town by any means. Still in a country where repressive anti-sex attitudes prevail in the public sphere it is nice to be able to walk in off the street and see a fully nude woman spread eagle. The Cricket Lounge offers that if little else.
From the outside the Cricket doesn’t look like anything more than an old concrete building. A mural style painting on the side of the building gives the indication that something is going on inside. But it is the neon green “gentlemen’s club” sign over the entrance that really reveals the true nature of the place.
The Cricket Lounge is not to be confused with the Silver Cricket a few states over in Michigan. Both clubs are located in urban areas and have nude dancers but they are otherwise worlds apart. While neither place is a destination I do find the Cricket Lounge here to be the superior of the two.
Inside the Cricket
The Cricket Lounge charges a $20 USD cover fee. That is about normal in the United States. A positive note is that the cover charge is actually waved before 10:00 PM. This is a good thing and many other clubs could learn from it. It saves customers who show up early from paying only to enter a slow party that is just getting started. It is very disappointing to pay to enter a place only to find out that nothing is really going on inside.
Past the bouncer who works the door there is a small seating area with a bar on one side of the room. Just past that the floor opens up to what is a fairly large stage. There are seats all along the front of the stage where you can get a really good view of the ladies. They bare it all at this place so there is a lot to see. Especially when the dancers do a doggy style head stand. This is something that the amateur gynaecologists who used to bring their flashlights to New Hot Point would surely appreciate.
Stripers, services, prices and summary
The Cricket is big enough but there are only a couple of actual dancers inside. There might be just 4 or 5 ladies dancing on any given night. Perhaps the numbers are higher at the most popular times. In any event the gals seem to be in their twenties and relatively fit and attractive. I didn’t see any superstars but still there was plenty of nice tits and ass on display. Most dancers are white. There are one or two black women too. There were no overweight or elderly women on stage at any time during my visit. But many of the dancers were heavily tattooed.
The Cricket Lounge seems to attract a lot of locals. And it seems that they get the most attention and best service. Especially from the wait staff behind the bar. Drinks are fairly inexpensive however with a beer going for just $4. That’s quite low for an alcoholic beverage in an American strip club even if there are other strip clubs nearby offering free beer.
The dancers are more indifferent and clearly there to do a job. I know all about pay for play. So that is not the worst thing in the world. Though I do admit that I find a friendly down home place like The Mouse’s Ear a lot more welcoming.
As is usually the case the dancers take turns on the stage. They work the poles nicely and really show off for the people sitting near the stage. A few dollars in tips goes a long way and keeps the dancers interactive. Full contact nude lap dances are available upstairs in a loft like area. Those private dances cost $25 each or $45 for a pair. They are just dances though they can be erotic if done correctly. A private room is also available where the same kinds of dances can be delivered in a more intimate environment.
The Cricket is a laid back if somewhat cold strip club. There is nothing necessarily wrong with the place other than the low number of dancers. I don’t mind the chilly vibe as I know how this game is played. But others might have their fantasies dashed by the mechanical approach found here. With so much competition around for the adult entertainment dollar the Cricket is average at best. I don’t think it’s quite that good. So I give it one star.
