I have been interviewing people involved with the sex industry for many years. It fits in with my goal to report on the commercial sex industry around the world in order to entertain readers. After all one of the best ways to learn about a subject is to talk to people who are involved with it. Expertise often comes with experience. And a lot of truths can be uncovered in casual conversation.
Chinese massage parlors were one of the first topics I covered on this site. Years have gone by but the interest in these sorts of facilities seems to be higher than ever. It seems like a very fitting time to publish this interview I did with a veteran Chinese massage parlor worker. I hope you will find her answers as intriguing as I do.
How old are you and where are you from?
How old do you think I am? I am forty nine forever. Haha. I come from China.
Do you mind telling me the city in China you’re from?
I am from a small village. It is near Chengdu.
Sichuan is famous for spicy food!
Haha yes we like spicy. Now everything changed. China is growing fast. But the food is still spicy at home.
Are you married? Do you have any children?
I was married before. I have one son in China. He is 21.
Do you talk to him?
Yes. I talk to him often. He is in university. I just called him yesterday. He told me the price of meat is quite high.
Do you ever plan to get married again?
No one wants to marry me. I am old, haha. I am not beautiful. Also, men don’t understand my work. They think this is something else. It is only my work, but they don’t understand.
I have actually heard of some customers marrying masseuses.
Haha! That is crazy.
How long have you been doing massage?
Oh I have been doing massage for a long time. Since I came to America.
What kind of massage do you do?
I do body massage with oil. Some ladies don’t put oil. I use oil. It helps.
Do you have female customers?
I worked in different shops. Normally men come. Some places have women. Some places never have them. In New York men come a lot.
Do you prefer men or women?
Men are better. They are easy and they give tips. Some of the women look angry.
The customers get naked right?
How can I massage your body if you wear clothes? There is a towel in the room. I work around.
Do you have sex with your customers?
No sex! We can’t do that. My boss is inside. Or another woman or customer can see or hear that. We can’t do that. It’s not allowed.
How about handjobs?
I do it sometimes. Not every customer wants that. When the man wants that I can tell. If he looks okay I do it. They should give a good tip if I do that. Some people still don’t want to tip. It’s a problem.
How much should they tip?
It’s up to them. Most guys give forty dollars.
Do you ever get turned on when you do a massage?
Haha. I don’t think like that. This is my work. Only sometimes I had a handsome customer. But I don’t think anything. One guy came to me many times. He tried to be romantic. It was nice. But I am old. I don’t think like that.
How much is a massage?
Thirty minutes is about forty dollars. One hour is fifty dollars. Some shops are different.
How much are you paid?
I get about 30 dollars for a one hour massage. Sometimes there are no customers. Tips are better. Some days there are many customers who give big tips. Some days no one comes.
How is the work? Do you like it? There is a lot of talk now that women are brought in to do this kind of work against their will. Or that the ladies who work in massage parlors can’t leave.
It is okay. I need to make money. Everyone needs money. I can leave any time. I worked in many different places. I have a green card so I can go to China anytime. I go every year. Some ladies don’t have a green card. That’s why they can’t leave. They can leave but they can’t come back!
How did you get to the US?
I came to America 20 years ago. Then I started to work.
How did you find the work?
Some people told me to work massage. They said for me it is a good way to make money.
Where do you live?
I lived in many places. But I always go back to Flushing, New York.
There are a lot of Chinese people there.
Yes. Flushing is more a Chinatown than the Chinatown in Manhattan. Sometimes I thought it was China. Haha.
Do you live inside a massage parlor?
No! I have my own home. I never lived inside a shop. We cooked food inside sometimes. But I go somewhere else to sleep. When I left New York to work somewhere else the boss helped me find a place. It is easier in New York. In Flushing I can speak Chinese and find work or a place to live easily. I like to walk around. It is easy to walk in Flushing. It’s good for your health.
What are your plans for the future?
Now I just make money. I save money and I help my son study. When my son is finished with university he can start a family and have a good life.
How long will you work?
I will work if I can. Why not? What else will I do?

Thanks for the comment Jack! I tried to recreate a modern version of the site with original color scheme. In New York City some people call 32nd Street Koreatown. Especially around Sixth Avenue. But there are more Korean people in Queens then there are in that area. Cheers.
A holiday follow up. I’ve got a regular Chinese gal on the east coast, not NY area, and as loving as she seems during our increasingly energetic sessions, and her occasional chats to let me know when she has a new girl for her special 4 hand, I know that it’s just a job – on of many, in fact. One time she was slurping my candy cane and tapping out messages on her phone at the same time. After the deed was done I joked “I hope you were not taking pictures of me” and she said she was working on a real estate deal!

It’s all about curb appeal LOL.
Mine is Lucy but no idea if that’s her real name or not. She’s very careful about nothing explicit via text, including denying that anything other than a good massage is on offer. But she always cups my junk on arrival and after 20 mins or so her tight little body has wriggled out of her “therapist” outfit and the sky’s the limit. Her four hand duos are pretty fun affairs, gives her the chance to work the phone while her charge gets experience working out my kinks. Lucy always takes any fluid as the trainer.
The gal I know has a different name. So this could just be a new trend. Cheers!
