Interview with Asian American porn star Nautica Thorn

Interviews with people in the sex industry have been a staple of this website since I first started it back in 2012. Some of them elicit more comments than others but there are all read by tens or even hundreds of thousands of people. That’s enough reason for me to keep doing them. That and the fact that I’m generally interested in what the people being interviewed have to say.

While I’ve been posting these kinds of interviews all year I haven’t done one with a really well known porn star for some time. I recently had the pleasure of running some questions by Nautica Thorn who many readers of this site are certainly familiar with already. Here is what she had to say.

I’m sure you’ve been asked this countless times but could you tell us how and when you got into porn?

I got into porn when I was 18 going on 19. I was a dancer on the famous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. It’s funny how it worked out. First one of my regular customers was a warehouse worker for Vivid Entertainment and then an agent came up to me about some modeling. Everything was pretty much history after that.

Are you still making porn now?

I work for myself. I am currently updating my website EnterNautica.com and doing a show a week on Cammodels.com

How has porn changed since you first go into the industry?

I feel it has changed in a sense that the generation I was in was one of the last that did it as a job that we enjoyed. Now I think it veered into a direction of just a money opportunity. Yes the money is great and potential for a girl to really market herself if she surrounded herself with good people, but we also loved what we did. That’s what makes great porn. You could be hot as fuck but if your just laying there, I’ll find someone else to watch.

If you could start over again would you still have made porn?

Yes. I was and am still a very open minded and adventurous person. So I know I would have made the same choice. And I don’t think I would be the person I am today and my life experiences without it. So no regrets and no do overs. I would do the same thing.

When did you watch your first porn? Do you remember it?

I think I was 15 or so. It was Asia Carrea.

What’s your best sexual memory? What’s your worst?

This question is easy….lol My best was in Hawaii, on Tantalus, and having a sex marathon. The guy I was with wanted to see how many times he could make me cum. I lost count after 10. That night was by far my favorite. As for my worst……There are surprisingly too many to name.

When did you give your first blowjob? How was it?

First off I have a very high oral fixation, so with that said I’m pretty sure I gave my first blow job when I first had sex. I don’t remember but I know me and she would do that.

If you had all the money you could ever want or need, would you still have done porn?

Yes. I wouldn’t have changed anything.

Have you had any issues with family or friends finding out about your porn work? Has it caused any problems in your personal life?

No. I have been fortunate to have very good friends. I surround myself with only positive people. As for family, of course there was the shock and disappointment, but in the end I was born and raised in Hawaii. We are a very family tight culture. So everything was back to normal when the dust settled.

What would your advice be to a person wanting to get into porn now? If it was a sister or family member asking, would your advice change?

My advice I gave all girls that asked for my opinion was first and foremost, now that you had a thought about getting into this industry, think about how it’ll impact you. Think about what you’ll tell your family and friends (cause they will find out), think about employment after, think about what your tell your future family of your own. All these questions girls don’t think about before making a decision. Hell no one told me. It wouldn’t have changed my mind of doing it, but it would have made me approach the industry different and I would have set myself up different and had a better exit plan.

Do you think porn can continue to be profitable with all of the free content now available online? What is the future of the industry?

No I don’t think it’ll be profitable and we are already seeing it’s affect on the industry. Looking at a couple of the big moves with the couple of the top companies. Digital Playground….sold.

The moves Playboy did. The companies are gearing up, and have been for a while, to battle this fight. I just think it’s too late.

Have you ever stripped or done adult webcamming? If so, how is it?

I use to go on the road and feature dance. I loved it. I loved interacting with the fans. I know it sounds so cliche to say, but they were like friends… like family to me. And what made the experience with them so wonderful was the fact that they were so respectful. That’s how you get true quality out of your time with your favorite star….respect.

How often are you recognized in the street?

Not so much now now that I have been out of the loop for a while. I still have a huge presence back home in Hawaii. So going home is always a warm welcome.

What are your favorite movies and books? What are you watching on TV?

Couple of my favorite movies are Star Wars (Follow DarthAK on IG), Inception, and NoteBook (yeah I had to add a chick flick in there). A book I just read not too long ago is probably by far one of my favorites, is The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, MD. I love reading anything to do with the brain and neuroscience type stuff. It’s just so fastinating to me.
