Red Hot & Blue is a bar in Pattaya. While I have seen it billed as a gentlemen’s club, the place is more of a go go bar in my opinion. That is, a team of women take turns dancing on the stage in bikinis.
Pattaya’s unique take on the gentlemen’s club has been covered on this website many times before. My recent review of Juicy Lucy gentlemen’s club explains how that model works. In this case my explanation of how Thai go go bars work might be more appropriate.
Red Hot & Blue even opens rather late in the evening. This is much different than Pattaya’s gentlemen’s clubs which usually open around noon and close somewhere around midnight. If you show up at Red Hot & Blue at their official opening time of 6:00 PM you will find that the women are just arriving and preparing for work!
None of this is to say that Red Hot & Blue is a “bad” place. I simply want to categorize it in the right way. You wouldn’t tell someone that McDonald’s is a steak house then start critiquing their beef.
Red Hot & Blue on Soi Bukhao
Red Hot & Blue is located right on Soi Bukhao. It’s not far from LK Metro. This area has long been known to Pattaya regulars. Though recently more shops in the vicinity have started to attract tourists too.
You can’t really miss this place. Even in the hustle and bustle of a street like Soi Bukhao it stands out with a large mural outside. There is also plenty of signage in English.
Once you walk inside you see a large stage, plenty of table seating, and a bar. The ceiling is a little bit on the low side for a go go bar. Otherwise this place is pretty much a textbook example of a Thai agogo. Think of the setup of a place like Club Nevada and you’ll have a general idea.
Of course this place is a little fresher than that shuttered operation. But perhaps only somewhat. The little dog that I saw standing by the bar may have something to do with that.
The bar and the babes
If Red Hot & Blue has anything going for it that would be the women. There are at least two dozen ladies on staff here. Depending on the day they walk around in bikinis or some other kind of sexy uniform.
Most of the women are probably best described as average for the area. We’re talking about Thai bar girls in their twenties and thirties with decent bodies for the most part. Many have tattoos. Most have probably had children too. There are a couple of especially pretty stand outs.
The biggest issue here might be that this place is a little too much like a go go bar. What that basically means in this day and age is that you can expect to see a lot of standoffish ladies shuffling back and forth on stage.
There are exceptions. Some of the ladies also turn on a bit if you take the first step and call them over for a drink. Even then you may have to deal with some rigamarole. Which women will leave the bar, and with who, seems to be up for debate. Ultimately it probably depends on your interactions with the women and how much you are willing to spend.
Summary
Red Hot & Blue then is basically a run of the mill Pattaya go go bar. There isn’t much more to it. The only thing that really stood out about the place to me was probably the floor to ceiling height.
I will repeat that it is not a bad place. If you want to sit down and have a drink while watching Thai girls dance this might be the place for you. A bottle of beer runs around 120 Baht.
I couldn’t tell you the price of a barfine. Unfortunately I never got that far. Admittedly I may have been disappointed that the place wasn’t really a gentlemen’s club. Though I did give it a chance.
I was approached about lady drinks during one of my visits. I also saw some ladies pushing shots to other customers too. This is another reality of today’s version of the Thai go go bar model. Honestly, it’s hold no appeal to me.
Overall, Red Hot & Blue is a fairly average Pattaya go go bar. For those who like that sort of thing, it could be good. I try to look at things objectively and compare with everything available in the area. With that in mind I give it two-and-a-half stars.
