Pink Panther is one of the longest lived go go bars in all of Thailand. The place has been in business more or less continuously since the 1980’s. It has stayed in operation by offering real value for money. The place evolves to stay with the times without giving up its core business model. At base Pink Panther is a place to meet hot Thai babes.
Pink Panther has changed hands over the years. That’s not a bad thing. The introduction of fresh management with a more modern outlook has allowed this place to thrive. It might also explain why so many good looking ladies work here. Especially when compared to some of the other old surviving Patpong bars that appear to have some of the same ladies on staff since the eighties.
Patpong has been a nightlife hot spot for decades. Still it doesn’t have the best reputation. This is where the ping pong show scam originated. Still Patpong is also home to a lot of long running bars that do honest business. Pink Panther is definitely above board. Indeed it’s one of the top agogos in town.
Pink Panther is located on Patpong Soi 2 in the Silom section of Bangkok. Easy to find with a large frontage at the corner with Surawong Road the bar has become a landmark. It’s also one of the last venues of its kind on Soi 2 which is largely populated with gay oriented businesses these days.
Who goes to agogos and why?
Generally speaking go go bars are aimed at tourists. I don’t have any real way to measure this. But from what I have seen it appears that the bulk of people who visit the agogos in Bangkok do not live in the country. That doesn’t mean that expats and others living in Bangkok don’t go to go go bars of course. This is simply to note that stamp of tourism can be found in the business model.
How? Some places are more eager skin sheep than sheer them. If they don’t expect customers to return then they see no reason to provide good service. That isn’t the case at Pink Panther. Though the nightly Muay Thai shows seem more likely to impress one time visitors than return guests.
I could be alone here. But when I go to a go go bar it is to see Thai women dancing in bikinis. As my earlier review of Kazy Kozy showed I am not even a big fan of the “erotic shows” some places put on. That all seems more fitting for a theater or cabaret than a girly bar in an area widely considered to be a redlight district.
I say this not to be overly critical of Pink Panther. If anything I am praising the place. I think that this go go bar is good enough to stand on its own. With some of the real beauties Pink Panther employs I don’t believe any extras are necessary to bring people through the doors. Then again the fights have been going on at this bar for years. So perhaps people would miss the kick boxing if the ring was removed.
Staff, prices, summary
There are dozens of women working at Pink Panther. Included in their numbers are some of the most beautiful women working at any venue in Thailand. Of course beauty is subjective. Though it would be tough to dispute the attractiveness of some of the real gems found at Pink Panther. These gals have even caught the eyes of photographers and columnists! That doesn’t mean that every woman working here is a supermodel. Far from it. But the good are good enough to outweigh the bad. And then some!
The ladies at Pink Panther wear revealing bikinis and lingerie that still leave a little something to the imagination. There are a lot of nice tight bodies here. Many of the ladies have tattoos. But there are also some all natural gals around. At least in terms of weight, bodies and outward appearances Pink Panther seems to be a little stricter in its hiring than many other bars.
The women do the usual two step shuffle on elevated stages when its their turn to dance. Other times they lounge around or interact with the customers. Buying a lady drink here is a good way to get some company from a lovely woman. Some cuddling between women and customers is common here. But this is no Crazy House. Barfines are of course available and most women seem keen to make an extra Baht outside of the bar.
Lady drinks cost 220 Baht ($6.50 USD). The standard bar fine here is 800 Baht ($22 USD). The ladies choose their own rates for extracurricular activities but most seem to expect payment in the thousands. It’s all about par for the local industry.
Things change quick in the world’s oldest profession. Here today gone tomorrow takes on a literal meaning in Bangkok’s bar scene. When a business stays around in the same spot for forty years there is probably something to it. Pink Panther proves that. It is a well run and interesting bar with a good team of ladies that includes some absolute stunners. As far as Bangkok go go bars go this is one of the best. Four stars.
