Here is a list of guest friendly hotels in Vientiane. Vientiane is the small city that serves as the capital of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, more commonly known as Laos. While the town is spread out to some extent it’s also easily navigable.
Ever present tuk tuk and taxi drivers make the task of getting around even easier though those who stay in centrally located hotels may find that they need nothing more than their feet to see everything they want to see.
Surprisingly Vientiane does have its fair share of nightlife and entertainment. Most of it is easy to find or stubble across accidentally though a few places probably wouldn’t be found by a tourist who doesn’t do a bit of research or asking around.
Not long ago it was difficult to find a hotel in Vientiane that would allow customers to bring friends back to their rooms. Nowadays it’s a bit easier though still by no means a guarantee. The following is a list of good hotels with confirmed guest friendly policies.
Lao Plaza Hotel room
1. Lao Plaza Hotel (Samsenthai Road)
The five star Lao Plaza Hotel is one of the best known and reviewed hotels in the city. It is centrally located on a large and sprawling complex that takes up almost an entire city block.
The hotel is filled with amenities like restaurants, cafes, a swimming pool, a gym and a private massage area. The hotel is guest friendly and the abundance of services and conferences mean that those coming in and out of the hotel are rarely given a second look. One can walk in and head to the elevators without as much as making eye contact with anyone else.
Rooms in Vientiane are rarely cheap. This hotel is no exception.
2. City Inn Vientiane (Rue Pangkham)
The City Inn is a large but laid back hotel just outside of the city center. It’s within a short walk from the riverside and almost all of the most well known nightlife hot spots. Taxis stay queued up outside and tuk tuks wait on a nearby street corner for anyone who wants to go further than foot distance. A posted a full review of the City Inn Hotel earlier this month.
The facilities are large and the rooms are well laid out and spacious. The hotel seems to have a hands off approach when it comes to guests. Customers are free to come and go through the multiple entrances and into the hotel without anyone asking them any question.
Prices seem to go up and down at the hotel.
Mekong Breeze Hotel Vientiane
3. Mekong Breeze (Ban Sisomsuen Kaulieu Road)
The Mekong Breeze is a good budget option for those looking to save a little on hotels while visiting Laos. Since the country is an expensive place to get a room it makes sense that some of the lower end options are popular. While the Mekong Breeze is certainly no Taj Mahal it’s not a dump either. Many find it a satisfactory place to stay for a few days.
The worst thing about the Breeze is it’s location. While it’s only a minute or two from the riverfront on foot it is a bit further from most of the more popular nightlife options. This distance is easily overcome by an abundance of taxi drivers and tuk tuks. Many find that the area is more peaceful than the center of the city allowing for more rest, relaxation and privacy. The staff is passive and doesn’t have a problem with guests taking a friend to their room. There’s also a decent eatery on premises.
While the hotel isn’t expensive it can fill up and prices can change.
