Review: Super Strip Theater in Tokyo, Japan

Super Strip Theater is a strip show the Shibuya neighborhood of Tokyo, Japan. It is also referred to as Strip Live Theater in some places and even on the sign board. It has still another name in Japanese. Whatever the name, it is a good example of what a modern Japanese strip club is like.

The theater itself is right out in the open. And it is only a 1 or 2 minute walk from Shibuya Station. It’s across the street from an “adult shop,” which gives you an idea of the kind of neighborhood it’s in. Of course this is Japan, so it’s not really seedy. Shibuya is actually a major shopping destination filled with regular people. In any event, you never really have to worry much about safety in Tokyo. A block away there are regular shops on the main road.

A huge yellow neon sign marks the entrance. You can’t miss it. When you first enter the theater, with looks like an old style cinema, there is a small ticket window on the left. The worker inside probably won’t speak much English, so just hand over your money. The entrance fee is 5,000 Yen ($34 US dollars). Don’t worry, foreigners are more than welcome.

That may seem like a very expensive entrance fee. Especially considering that Japanese blowjob bars and peep shows like New Hot Point where you can get a hand job or blowjob finish for 2000-4000 Yen are all over Tokyo. But the ticket cost starts to make a lot more sense once you see how the system works. It’s basically all-inclusive.

Once you pay your fee and get your receipt, you walk inside. There, another man will take your receipt and point you down the stairs. This is where the action happens. Go past the vending machine and the small bathroom on the left and through the doors and you’ll enter the strip theater proper.

Inside the strip show

The room inside the theater is of average sized. In the back there is some standing room. In the front is a long t-shaped stage with an elaborate rotating carousel in the middle. This isn’t your average Western strip club!

The seating is a bit cramped, but it’s workable. Several rows of half-moon shaped benches are placed around the protruding part of the stage. Spaces exist between the rows to allow customers to come in and out as they please. There are almost always some guys here, mainly Japanese businessmen. They will give you your privacy and you should do the same.

The set up here doesn’t work like the clubs in the US. There are “shows,” starting at various times in the day. You may enter in the middle of a show. That’s fine, just take a seat. The whole thing will repeat a few minutes after the last scene. Once you pay your admission, you can stay as long as you’d like. You can even bring snacks or drinks inside if you’d like.

Each show includes performances by several women, all pictured on the website at any given time. These women rotate every few days. At the beginning, all the women for that night (ranging in looks from average to excellent, all at least having good bodies) will come out and introduce themselves. Then, the individual scenes will begin.

These scenes have themes are planned out really well. There are costumes and props and all sorts of things.  They will do one part in their costume, dancing and perhaps telling a bit of a story with their bodies. Then they will come out again and strip their tops or bottoms off.

The last round has them strip totally nude and taking up various positions on the rotating platform, which actually lifts up out of the stage by several feet, giving everyone in attendance a great view of the lady in question’s various holes. The place is intimate enough that no matter where you sit or stand, you will get an eyeful!

Tipping and pictures

After each dancer finishes her routine the lights will turned on. She’ll come back out in something casual like a t-shirt, take a bow, then climb back up on the rotating platform and spread her pussy and ass wide to give everyone one last good look. Every once in a while a regular customer will give the dancer a tip at this point, but it’s very rare. As is always the case in Japan, tipping is not required or expected.

After this, the dancer will move to the far right side of the stage, where at this point guys will begin lining up.  What’s going on? Well, when these guys paid their admission, they purchased photo tickets. This allows them to meet the girl briefly and then take a picture either with her or of her, in their desired position.

Guys who want a picture will use a digital camera provider by her. You can do this to if you buy a ticket at 500 Yen each. Just stand in line and hand it over to her. Can’t speak Japanese? No worries. They understand English poses that describe the position their legs will take (“M,” “V,” or for spread eagle, “open”). Even the Japanese guys will be using them! Photos are picked up at the window where you paid for your ticket after the show.

The show will continue like this. The girls are supposed to get progressively better looking as it goes on, but people have varying opinions. I often find prettier girls in the beginning or middle. Often there will a 2 girl show towards the end that will be very erotic.

Summary of the strip show

All the routines are of very high quality, and are as entertaining as they are sexy. It’s clear that a lot of thought and work goes into them.

It used to be that customers could get extra services just off stage after each show at these kinds of places. Getting a handjob or blowjob for a little extra cash was the norm. But that no longer seems to be the case anywhere. Crackdowns happened and things changed. It’s a bit odd since oral and hand relief for cash is not illegal in Japan. But what can you do?

Once in a while, one of the dancers will be a Japanese AV actress. When this is the case, they often have DVDs for sale with them. They will sign these for you if you purchase one.

If you don’t want any take home photos or get any DVDs you don’t have to. No pressure. You could stay here all day with just your entry fee paid and no one would be upset in the least! Some guys just hang out and take in the show without interacting or spending an extra Yen.

There are a few rules at this club and others like it. Don’t be a boisterous asshole and ruin it for everyone. Also keep your phone in your pocket. Taking it out while in the theater proper, even just to check the time, is a sure way to get thrown out and permanently banned.

I should mention too that couples are welcome. Some clubs and dates seem to be more popular for that than others. Super Strip Theater is totally fine with all sexes. Women even get discounted entry. And I have seen women inside.

Strip clubs are somewhat common around the world. But the Japanese strip theater is unique model. As a decent and unique experience, I give Super Strip Theater 3.5 stars. It’s something worth seeing if you’re in Japan.

  1. Good and accurate report. Just a few comments: The Japanese mane is Dogenzaka Theater. Noone knows the english name, and you wull not find it under this name if you search the web.
I personally prefer TS Music in Kabuchiko. Yes, it sis cramped.but the show is slightly more erotic, and the atmosphere in this samll theater quite hot..

  2. Forgot to add that there is a discount for Senior Citizen, that is aged 60 or above ( proof requested) which brings the price down to a more reasonable 4000 at Dogenzaka, adn 3000 at TS music.

    1. Thanks for visiting. I knew about the senior discount but either forgot to mention it or just left it out. I’m not quite there yet, but it’s definitely useful info. TS is pretty good, especially some of the special events. They just got busted though. Don’t know if you heard about it. I’ll make an entry about it soon.

  3. Thanks for telling us about this place.
Not only is it friendly, unlike the rest of the racist clubs nearby, but the girls are beautiful, 100% committed and seem to be enjoying themselves. I love how everyone is there to enjoy themselves and take a healthy pleasure in these firm, gorgeous bodies. Especially welcome is the girls cominground to thank the audience.
Very artistc, very funny and very sensual show. A great way to spend an afternoon.

  4. Is touching allowed maybe not during but after for the pictures? Do they do lap dances? If not can you suggest a place near Shinjuku, shabuya, roppongi? That I can just squeeze some boobs?

    1. No touching at Super Strip Theater. And no lap dances either. It’s not an American strip club. It sounds like you’re looking for a place like New Hot Point in Shinjuku (reviewed on this site) or an oppai pub like Body Walker Princess in Shinjuku, which allows you to make out with and grope a few women for 3000 Yen. Cheers.

  5. Yeah that sounds about right. NHP sounds awesome but I barely know any Japanese.
Looked for Body walker princess with no luck. Last time I went to Shinjuku (last year) the only people who talked to me were Nigerian (I assume)
    Thank you.

  6. I saw another post you made that has the address, is it still there? Looks like it’s close to the capsule I was going to stay in. Is the sign in English? And are non japanese aloud in? What about the massage places like asian feeling. Are you aloud to touch the girls?
    Thank you

  7. Hello, thanks for a great report! I’ve been reading all your Tokyo posts and I’m getting ready to travel there in a few months! I’d like to know that are you allowed to drink alcohol inside? Do they sell any or you just have to bring your own supply? It might look weird if you’re going to drink a lot and carry a big bag full of bottles. Just asking because I’m sort of an alcoholic and can’t really get even slightly drunk with small amounts. Thus staying sober isn’t an option either…

    1. There are vending machines but I can’t remember if they have alcohol or not. I have seen a few guys in various strip joints in Tokyo with single cans of beer, usually held in a bag of some sort. I don’t think bringing several cans of beer or a flask in would be a great idea, but that’s my opinion. I don’t know the rules on alchohol, if there are indeed any.

  8. Hello, nice report. The website now shows 5000 yen as entry, moreover a discount for students, are they really serious ? I mean i am a visiting student here in Japan, so will i get that ?

    Cheers !!

    1. There’s a discount if you show up in the morning or can prove you are a senior or a student. I don’t really know if they’d accept foreign ID cards. Cheers.

    2. Thanks for the reply, but i am working in an institute in Japan, with the ID card of the same institute so i think i might get it. Cheers !!

  9. Sorry for the inconsistency in the usernames, was using my ipad where i was using a different nick, and posted by the same name. Your site has really been my top search in the last few days. Cheers !!

  10. Is it possible to review another strip club? Very interesting concept as a Japanese sex culture. Does it appear that they could eventually diminish like the geishas? Without the extras that got banned
, the spectator only participation reduced the overall experience.

    1. Thanks for the comment. I have two new Japanese strip club reviews in the works, and one even includes pictures. Stay tuned!

  11. Great! Would there be reviews for oppai and cabaret as well? And do you know if anyone scored a deriheru in a capsule before?

Sorry for so many questions. I thought my vacation was giving to be mundane until last night. I spent hours reading here. Now it’s going to be a pink adventure!

  12. Visited this club in January 2015. Like most other strip clubs in Japan, they have a 10 day roster – the same show from 1-10 of the month, and then completely new shows and girls for 11-20 and 21-end of the month. Very good show in the Japanese fashion, though preferred TS Music and DX Kabukicho.

Japanese striptease is essentially a compromise: they want to be appreciated for their artistry, dancing, beauty, grace etc; and we want to see tits and pussy. So the first part of their show is the artistry, which just happens to have long graceful poses with the legs wide open, but all under soft lighting; and we politely applaud. Afterwards they come out under full lighting and spread and show the pussy, and we applaud more enthusiastically. Win-win all round. When in Japan, do as the Japanese do.

The seats here are more comfortable than TS Music and DX Kabukicho, but the show moves more slowly since it’s one girl, photos, then next girl (the other clubs do two or three shows and then photos for both or all girls together rather than single show, single girl photos.) Monday to Friday is best because the Japanese are at work; it’s crowded on Saturday and Sunday. Always bring something from their website to get the entry discount (either a printout or their page on your smartphone) – if you show that you looked for the place rather than wandered in out of the weather, you will always get the discount. If you’re over 60 like me, show them the DOB in your passport.

Incidentally, on leaving this club in the evening, when you rejoin the main street you are likely to be propositioned in perfect English by very beautiful but expensive Japanese prostitutes….

  13. I was there today, Friday, and I saw two end to end shows. I didn’t just wander in, I had read this review and the comments before. Did I look informed or what’s on today? I was asked for 2000; the sign on the booth still said 5000.
The show is indeed some strange in between thing. Slow and sad classical music with nice costumes and serious acting, revealing the nude body bit by bit. Then western pop or local music with the lady in the nude, spreading very wide for all to see, regardless of the seat.
The two girls did very well. One was younger with a slim body and little on top. Face was nice too, if a bit serious. The other was older, more filled in, nice top, but not chubby.
A number of men were quite passive with one asleep. There were there for the nude scenes and the photos afterwards. Whenever it was spreading time, they cheered. A good number took photos after paying the fee. The girl’s camera is used and they get a printout.
Overall I enjoyed it. You just need to manage your expectations. You can listen ok, but you can’t join it. Take it as going to the ballet, but the dancers are getting nude and spread very wide for all to see.
By the way, it does say Super Strip Theatre on the outside, but it’s hard to see. Look out for the yellow on the building, that’s quite easy to spot.i

  14. Visited this weekend (late May 2016) after reading the review here. Even knowing what to expect, the experience blew me away. It was pretty crowded, so I stood in the back, but the place is so tiny, I still got views of the action. These are hardworking girls, let me tell you. Seems like lots of thought goes into these performances. The quality of the girls definitely got better as the night went on, with the finale being an absolute knock-out. Interestingly, only a couple of guys wanted photos with her. The second chick was average at best, but winked and smiled at the guys and giggled as they drooled over her pussy. She had ’em lined up for a mile to take pictures and shake hands. I also want to mention a worker there I call the “stage hand.” An old balding man who would throw cheesy streamers behind the girls during key poses in their shows. He would also pretend to be the first photo customer for some of the girls, making a big show of the picture-taking process, I guess in an attempt to drum up more business. It was obvious he worked there, though. Overall, a fun experience. Not a place I’d go every weekend, but will definitely go back at some point.
