While sex shop reviews have always been the bread and butter of this site, question and answers sessions have also played a role in its development. They don’t seem to prompt as many readers to comment but they do get their fair share of views which shows me that there is plenty of interest.
Today I continue my tradition of posting interviews with sex workers of all varieties by doing a Q&A with Filipina American porn starlet Mia Li.
I first came across Mia Li in a streaming porn video I found somewhere online. Her performance was top shelf. Thanks to the powers of search engines and social media it didn’t take me long to contact her. Fortunately she was happy to do an interview. These are the results.
First let me ask all the usual questions: where are you from, how old are you and how did you get into porn?
I am from Queens, New York and am 24. Webcamming was my diving board into the porn industry.
Did you have any hesitation getting into porn now that the industry is making less money than it used to?
I had reservations due to the nature of the work and not the pay. As a cammer I am able to control my rates and manage to make a decent living.
I first saw you in a streaming Kink video online. You either greatly enjoyed it or you are a spectacular actress. Do you prefer Kink work to “vanilla” porn?
Honestly, I don’t consume a lot of pornography. In regard to my preference of kink to vanilla sex, I like both equally. It all depends on the people with whom I’m having fun. I really feed off of the energy and preferences of my lovers.
What’s your take on social media as it relates to porn?
I think social media, such as Twitter, makes it easier for fans to reach out and communicate with their favorite porn stars. The downside of social media is that privacy is growing less and less sacred.
Do you ever watch Japanese porn? What do you think of that?
I watched a few Japanese porns, particularly hentai. I am a huge fan of hentai porn because of how amazingly the voice acting and the animation pairs with each other.
On a normal non-porn day what kind of panties do you wear?
I wear exceptionally comfortable thongs or full back panties. Comfort is king when I’m not shooting porn.
What’s your opinion of prostitution? Some porn stars are now openly selling sexual services to average Joes, especially in Japan and Europe. Would you ever consider escorting?
I think that individuals have a right to their body and if they want to sell sexual services that is their prerogative. I would never consider escorting because I would rather the lover and I to mutually come to the conclusion that we both want to fuck, rather than having it come to be because of an economical exchange. I love being a porn actress because it is a performance to create content for people to enjoy sexually.
What was the first porn you saw?
I think the first porn I saw was a softcore on pay per view.
What was your first sexual experience?
Masturbation when I was rather young. I don’t think I quite knew that what I was doing was masturbation. All I knew was that it felt amazing.
Who is your favorite porn star?
I don’t have a favorite porn star because I simply don’t watch porn.
If a family member or friend wanted to get into porn and come to you for advice, what would you say?
Be extremely self aware of what you are willing to do and think the decision through thoroughly.
What do you think about the push to require condoms in porn?
I think it’s an absurd infringement of our rights as sex workers and also a violation of already implemented safety protocols.
Are you often recognized in your day to day life?
Frankly, I am far too new to be recognized. I have been recognized just a handful of times.
Some people have said that stripping and working adult cam sites is now more profitable for women than doing porn scenes. Do you agree with that?
I don’t have personal or anecdotal data on this opinion, so I can’t say. In regard to camming, I know that on a good day I can make as much as I would on a normal porn shoot.
A lot of porn stars now have Amazon wish lists where fans can buy them things they like. You also have one. Have you gotten many things this way?
I have gotten quite a few things this way. I use my Amazon wish lists as a way for my fans to get to know me through the items and comments I post on them.
What is your favorite book? Your favorite movie?
My favorite book currently is The Windup Bird Chronicles by Murakami. I’m not certain of my favorite movie right now.
